Perfectly silly post but I'm in the middle of DARK season 2 on Netflix and loving it so far. It's even darker and creepier than season 1. It's a German Sci Fi adventure set in the near future with supernatural elements and a time-travel story. It's really unique and interesting. But one of the young German actresses caught my eye and that's why I'm posting on my ANIME blog about this.
This is Gina Stiebitz, one of the supporting cast in the series. She portrays Franziska Doppler, who is the daughter of Charlotte Doppler, the main police investigator. She's the older sister of Elisabeth Doppler, the young deaf-mute girl. Her father is Peter Doppler. She part of the same circle of friends including the Nielsen children, Jonas Kahnwald, and Bartosz Tiedemann.
Anyway, if there were ever to be a Neon Genesis Evangelion live-action remake, I would cast Gina in the role of Asuka Soryu Langley (and I'd probably ditch "Langley" for a more decidedly German surname rather than the nickname for CIA headquarters for starters).
Gina fits the bill, and even sorta looks like Asuka. German girl? Check! Attractive red-head? CHECK!
I really hope a live-action Neon Genesis Evangelion stays in "development hell" where it belongs because releasing it just might cause 3rd Imapact for realsies. But if it actually does descend upon the earth like an apocalyptic angel, you could do worse than casting Gina Stiebitz in the iconic role of Asuka. At least right now...Gina is, as of this year, 22 years old, but still plays a convincing teenager in DARK. But she will rapidly age out of the potential role and a new prophesied Children must be selected if too much time passes.
